IBC 2026, a show to Remember for Techex
From industry-shaping conversations to a string of award wins, IBC 2026 was Techex's biggest show yet.

One thing that came through loud and clear in this year's conversations is that as the industry keeps evolving, broadcasters want partners they can rely on to get it right, now more than ever.
Shows like this are always a brilliant reminder of just how much passion there is in this industry and how much we all gain from pulling together, supporting each other's journeys, and celebrating the wins along the way.

The Conversations Shaping the Industry
Alongside our own news, a few themes kept coming up in conversation on the stand, a good sign that we're focused on exactly the right challenges.
The move to IP infrastructure remains front of mind for broadcasters navigating the shift away from hardware-locked SDI systems. With tx darwin built natively for IP-first, software-defined workflows, we were able to speak directly to where broadcasters are in that journey, and what it takes to get the rest of the way there.
MXL and the move to software-native media exchange was another hot topic this year, and for good reason, MXL has just won the Content Creation category at the IBC 2026 Innovation Awards, and industry commentators are calling it one of the defining trends of the show. It solves a real problem - as broadcasters move media processing into software, most tools still behave as if they're connected by SDI cables, repeatedly packaging, transporting and re-syncing content between every step.
MXL removes that overhead by letting applications exchange video, audio and metadata directly through shared memory, with latencies below one millisecond per hop.
We were proud to be part of these conversations on the stand, showcasing our own new MXL modules and demonstrating real interoperability with partners including Solid State Logic and AWS, exactly the kind of open, vendor-agnostic collaboration MXL was built to enable. More on what we unveiled a little further down.
SCTE-35 and monetisation came up time and again, particularly the challenge of keeping ad markers frame-accurate as workflows move from traditional broadcast infrastructure into IP and cloud. Our SCTE-35 Transformation solution was built for exactly this problem, and it was great to walk visitors through how we solve it in practice.
Deployment flexibility was another recurring theme, with more broadcasters looking for infrastructure that isn't locked to one environment. It's part of why we're evolving MCR in the Cloud into MCR Anywhere, reflecting what broadcasters have been telling us they need… full master control functionality that runs wherever their infrastructure lives, cloud, on-prem, or both.
These, along with loads of other conversations, confirmed what we already believed coming into the show - the industry is moving fast, and having the right partner on hand to answer the tough questions matters more than ever.

Recognised by the industry we serve
We're delighted to share that tx darwin won Best Live IP Production at the CSI Magazine Awards, recognised for its wide range of functionality, the team's continual work extending its capabilities, and its flexibility in and around live production. David Edwards, David Mitchinson and Russell Trafford-Jones collected the award on the night and it means a huge amount as recognition of everything the team has built into tx darwin.
And the recognition for MXL didn't stop at the show floor. The Media eXchange Layer won the Content Creation category at the 2026 IBC Innovation Awards, celebrating collaborative, real-world breakthroughs in the industry. As an active contributor to the MXL project, we're proud to have played our part in this recognition alongside the European Broadcasting Union, the North American Broadcasters Association, the Linux Foundation, CBC/Radio-Canada and the wide range of industry partners who made it possible.
tx darwin was also named Best of Show by both TV Tech and TVBEurope, two of the most respected publications in our industry, as part of the wider Future B2B Best of Show Awards across IBC2026.
Our partnerships were recognised too. At the annual Bridge Awards, hosted this year at Bridge Technologies' stand, Techex was named Business Partner of the Year Runner Up, alongside VP Media Solutions, with SHM Broadcast GmbH taking the overall win. A great reflection of the strength of our partnership with Bridge Technologies.
Showcasing what tx darwin can do
We ran live demos throughout the show covering our full suite of reference solutions:
- Affiliate Distribution - all-IP replacement for satellite affiliate delivery at scale
- Consumer Multiview - server-side, elastic multiview built inside your own platform
- Live Event Management - source switching, SCTE-35 insertion and per-region tailoring for live events
- MCR in the Cloud - proven master control functions delivered entirely in software
- Playout Protection - software-defined switching that keeps channels on air through failures and rebuilds
- SCTE-35 Transformation - parse, transform and generate SCTE-35 messages at scale, in software.
Visitors got hands-on with the platform and saw first-hand why it's earning this level of recognition.

Given how much MXL was the talk of the show, we were pleased to unveil three new MXL modules of our own - MXL Reader, MXL Writer and MXL Info, continuing our commitment to open, vendor-agnostic, interoperable media technology.
MXL was in action not just on our own stand, but powering demonstrations on partner stands too, including MXL-powered audio mixing and encoding with Solid State Logic and multi-vendor MXL interoperability on AWS Fabric.
That spirit of collaboration ran right through the show. Our technology featured across integrations and demonstrations with partners including AWS, Grass Valley, Fraunhofer IIS, Solid State Logic, Skyline Communications, Bridge Technologies, TAG Video Systems, AI-Media, Encompass Digital Media, Qvest Global, Nevion, the EBU, Jünger Audio, Dolby Europe, Hitomi Broadcast, Six Floor Solutions, Imagine Communications and Densitron.

More than just products
IBC has always been about more than the show floor for us, and this year was no exception.
We were Rise Academy 4km Run Gold Sponsors, with plenty of Techex runners and volunteers taking part. We welcomed the Rise and IAMT team to our stand for a Tech Show and Tell, giving Rise mentees the chance to see our technology in action and giving us the chance to connect with the next generation of industry talent.
Tia Shenton, our RTS Young Technologist of the Year 2025, took to the Future Tech Ignite Stage as a panellist for Beyond the Curriculum - The Importance of Real World Experience, an IBC owner session connecting emerging talent with the organisations behind the show. She was joined by voices from AWS, the IET and Southampton Solent University, with the session moderated by Stuart Ray of IAMT. Great to see Tia sharing her perspective alongside such a strong panel of industry and education voices.
We were also proud to be Bronze Sponsors of the Devoncroft Partners Executive Summit, bringing together 400+ senior leaders from across the media technology value chain for a day of candid, thought-provoking conversation on the business of our industry.
On the same day, members of the team headed to the SVG Europe Summit, spending time with sports broadcasting leaders and hearing first-hand where the sector is heading next.
We also saw the team attend The Hive Group, Where Does the Signal Go Next? event, a session exploring the shifting European distribution landscape, with panels covering both the US and European perspectives on the move away from satellite, plus a look at the technology solutions and roadmaps shaping what comes next.
